Our First 10 days

Friday, July 24: We were released from the hospital. Ethan had a small touch of jaundice, but nothing to be too concerned about. Kaylin also had a small touch of jaundice when she was born, so I knew to just keep feeding him every 2-3 hours to flush it out. We got home and were greeted by my mom, my sister Julie and of course, our dogs. We were also pleasantly surprised to come home to a spotless house thanks to my mom, sisters and my cousin Kathleen (who drove from Tennessee to surprise us). My sister Jolene, Little Brandon, Danica and Curtis came later to visit.

Saturday, July 25: My mom came up in the morning to stay the weekend and help out with stuff around the house. Chad went back to work, so it was nice to have my mom around to help me out with stuff. Jolene and Little Brandon came up in the afternoon to visit and so did my nephew Steve.

Sunday, July 26: Chad's parents and Kim, Michael and Drew came to visit and brought us lunch. Drew was very fascinated with Ethan, but was not too fond of Kim holding Ethan. Sunday evening my niece Lindsey came up to stay for a couple of days to help out.

Monday, July 27: The visiting nurse came to check on me and Ethan. Ethan's jaundice level was perfect. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. (he was 7 lbs. 3 oz.when we left the hospital), the nurse was very pleased at how well we were both doing. Later that day my sister Jeannine, Darin, Brittany, Courtney, Dawson and my dad all came up for a visit. We ordered pizza and chatted. That night my mom went home, but Lindsey was still here to help.

Tuesday, July 28: Lindsey, Kaylin, Ethan and I made a trip to Wal-Mart, it went surprisingly well. Later that day, Jolene stopped with Danica and Curtis. That night Julie and Jenna came to stay because Julie was going to chemo with my dad the next day. We watched The Haunting of Conneticut and then stayed up and talked (big mistake on my part).

Wednesday, July 29: Lindsey left that morning. We had the Maquoketa parade that evening, so I got chairs set up and my house straightned back up. My mom and sister Julie got here after chemo and made sloppy joes and helped get other things done. That evening, my mom watched Ethan while I walked to the corner to watch the parade with my family.

Thursday, July 30: Chad and I took Kaylin and Ethan to Portrait Innovations in Dubuque to get their pictures taken. Ethan did awesome, Kaylin on the other hand was being a pain in the butt. We did manage to get a couple good ones of the kids together. After that we ran to Target and then to Burger King for lunch. After we got home from Dubuque my mom and sister Julie came to our house to watch Ethan so Chad and I could take Kaylin to kids day at the Jackson County Fair. Kaylin had a blast and Dawson was cool enough to take Kaylin on some of the "kiddie rides". Chad went on a big ride with Dawson later. Kaylin even won $5 in the kids drawing. When we got home we ate supper and relaxed.

Friday, July 31: My dad came up to work on our bathroom. It was my first day with nobody to help with the kids, and it is a balancing act. Kaylin is really doing everything she can to get ALL the attention on her.

Saturday, Aug. 1: My dad came up to work on the bathroom again. When Chad got home from work we went out for supper and then ran to Wal-Mart to get a few things that we needed.

Sunday, Aug. 2: We spent the day at home, just the 4 of us (well the 7 of us if you count the dogs). Chad got the lawn mowed and I got the house dusted and floors swept and laundry done. When Kaylin got up from her nap I took her outside to play in her new pool that Aunt Julie got her. It was a nice relaxing day.
